If you like to solve puzzles and mysteries, you might be an analyst at heart. The Analysis & Collection section at the Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive (ONCIX) identifies foreign intelligence threats to our country. Analysts at ONCIX are key contributors to our national security. You need a keen mind for unraveling the unknown and a desire to learn what is just out of reach. The National Counterintelligence Strategy directs us to:

"Identify, assess, neutralize, and exploit the intelligence activities of foreign powers, terrorist groups, international criminal organizations and other entities that seek to do us harm."

The analytic cadre at ONCIX has the responsibility for a part of this mission. Their efforts are complex, challenging, and have real world consequences. Our analysis requires a problem-solving mind and strong research and data mining skills. Analysis and collection at ONCIX requires writing and briefing on high-priority counterintelligence topics, ranging from regional issues to terrorism. Guided by The National Counterintelligence Strategy, we provide analysis for the White House, Congress, the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, and many other government departments and agencies.

Along with our analytic efforts, there is a strong collection component to our work. Our analysts must carefully and quickly identify the data we currently do not possess and work with collection managers to initiate efforts to fill these gaps. Attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment, and in partnership with peers from many government agencies is a necessary part of this process. Furthermore, our analysts must have the ability to manage and complete numerous high-level tasks simultaneously and perform both as an individual and on a team with other analysts from across the Intelligence Community. We travel as needed, both around the United States and abroad to complete our mission. You will work to collect data, transform that data into information, and then transform that information into intelligence for policymakers, warfighters, and the law enforcement community.

Counterintelligence analysis and collection is a tough job; it is an essential ingredient for the long-term safety and security of the United States and our interests overseas.
