The National Counterintelligence and Security Center provides effective leadership and support to the counterintelligence and security activities of the US Intelligence Community, the US Government, and US private sector entities who are at risk of intelligence collection or attack by foreign adversaries.
Executive Order 13467 of June 30, 2008 appointed the DNI as Security Executive Agent, who shall ensure reciprocal recognition of eligibility for access to classified information among the agencies. It further ordered that all Federal agencies recognize security clearances granted by other agencies as part of an effort to streamline the clearance process. The successful collaboration among the Intelligence and government-wide communities depends on the promotion of a mobile workforce and the sharing of information. Reciprocal recognition of security clearances among agencies ensures cost effective, timely, and efficient protection of the nation's interest.
